If you need a functional cane, the palm grip is the way to go. I find no problem in appearance and functionality. The question most people ask, "how to measure a cane effectively. "I'm 5'5, and in many references, the ideal height of a cane is 1/2 of a persons height (give or take up to 1/2 inch). I'm please by the design and functionality. I'm 5'5" and considered well proportioned overall. Measuring was my only concern. I took half my height in inches and used it to measure my cane.
