Defective, screw too short, wobbles, not safe
My husband is battling a terminal illness and is in need of assistance showering. I purchased this chair because, as his only caregiver, it would make it easier on myself and him. My time is limited due to daily radiation treatments that cause us to travel long distances every weekday. My first disappointment was in that it was not assembled, but came all in pieces that had to be put together. The very first thumb screw that was suggested was too short and didn't even come close to the hole it was supposed to fit in. Would never recomment this product. First off it does not fit in our bathtub at all. secondly if you take the back off to try and sit on it sideways the screws are to long and push up into the seat part like they are about to come through it. Thirdly its very unsteady, it falls over very easily. we bought it because we knew a bigger one wouldn't fit in our tub but this smaller one doesn't either. Im 36 weeks pregnant and have 2 herniated discs crushing the nerves to my legs, 1 buldging disc and another disc completely out of place pinching my spinal cord. Not satisfied.
I purchased this chair, received it quickly. It was purchased for my dad. I took the chair out of the box and assembled it, that was easy. But do not purchase this chair it is flimsy. I would not want to have my dad use this chair, as it does not feel secure. I found out that I could not return the chair. As I did not know this is an item that is not returnable. So now I am stuck with it. Lesson learned. Read everything there is to read before you purchase something you can not return.

The Drive Medical shower/tub bench chair was very easy to put together. I have a small shower, the kind not acceptable by ADA standards (smaller than even a tiny home shower). The bench fits perfectly in the shower and I still have plenty of room to reach my feet. It is sturdy enough for me at 320lbs. It is also still just as sturdy & great for me now at 245lbs. It does not tip when I reach for items either. I like the fact that it's grey and NOT white. I've had this bench for a couple of months. I am grateful to have it when I cannot stand long enough for my entire shower. Perfect piece of DM

Ordered and picked up from store with no problem. Easy to put together and didnt need tools. Put in a small shower and is very stable to sit on or to rest foot awhile cleaning it. Especially needed for seniors or the disabled. I change the shower head to a handheld one and bought a separate shower head holder to place closer to the chair. Works good, highly recommended, and price is nice.

Feeling secure.
This chair is nearly perfect for feeling safe in the shower. I and my husband are both disabled and not able to stand long enough to shower. Balances issues caused by neuropathy . The only thing that would have made it perfect would be for the length ( from back of seat to under the thighs ) of the seat to be a little longer. We are both tall people. Hubby is 6'5" and I'm 5'10". But all in all this chair gives us such a great feeling of security while bathing.

I am very pleased with this shower chair!
The shower chair came in a nice sized box for later storage. It was tool-free to put together with clear instructions. The pieces fit together well and the twist-end bolts seem sturdy. It would be possible to put together the chair without the back if multiple users have different preferences. The chair fits exactly in my standard sized bathtub. There is not much room to spare on either side of the legs. The chair is sturdy to sit on. It does not wobble or move once put in place and sat on. I weigh 170 pounds and do not feel uncomfortable at all with the sturdiness or size of the chair. There

Legs are "melting"!!!
This seat is rated for 400lbs and I am well below that--by 80lbs. It seemed very sturdy at first, but after using this no more than twice a week for 6 months, the legs are bending! I tried straightening them a couple times, but after slowly listing to one side until i almost got dumped into the toilet, I'm a bit scared to take a shower! Before I bought this, I was using a metal folding chair, which became quite rusted and was also making me nervous. Now I am looking at other models, and some chairs have braces (brackets?) between the legs; that seems like a much safer design. Most tubs and sho

Could be better
I got this to replace my last shower chair. The only thing wrong with my last one is the seat split. Since you can't just order a new seat I got this one thinking it would be just as good. Nope. The rubber feet want to suction down to the tub floor making it difficult to remove after I'm done showering. Water enters the holes in the legs for height adjustment and does not drain out. Speaking of height adjustment, you need to make absolutely sure the height is where you want it because changing it is nearly impossible if you have any hand weakness or issues at all. Poor design change. My last c

Positive experience.
Seat is well-designed and easy to assemble. Parts align nicely such that thumbscrews fit exactly and tighten snugly. The only problem I had was that the first chair I received was missing two thumbscrews and I had to return the whole unit for replacement. The replacement arrived within a few days and had all the needed parts. The chair is sturdy and comfortable. The legs are adjustable to a desired height. The material is waterproof and dries quickly after shower use. The thumbscrews should be checked occasionally for tightness. The width of the legs is 20", I believe (check the online specs),

The only thing good about it is the size, shape, and weight. This is my second one. I had foot surgery and had to use it as a leg support while placing one one knee on it. The legs spread in the shower stall, and rip out the screw inserts. Both of mine I had to drill through the screw holes and install bolt through carriage bolts to keep from hurting myself when the inserts pulled out. Crappy mechanical design, certainly boot rated for claimed rating.

Easy to assemble and feels sturdy. However, the texture on the seat feels uncomfortable and poky against my butt. I cant be the only one who hates the texture these shower chairs have. Im assuming its an anti slip feature but its nearly painful. I have sensitive skin so maybe its not common for most. I might buy a bamboo seat instead but hesitant because its higher maintenance.

Nice compact size as most I've found are a lot larger. Very easy to put together and could even take on the go for any trips due to can easily be taken apart and put back together or remove the legs if thats all you'd need to do. I bought it for when I had my knee replacement surgery. It is adjustable and I found it to be perfect for me, as I am 5'2". Recommend this product, if what your looking for is just basic and doesn't take up too much room, as I have a corner glass shower that doesn't have too much room and it worked very well for that type of space.

Feels very secure and comfortable. I like having the option of the removable back...using it with now, but may remove it as rehab progresses (total knee replacement). Zip-tied a small plastic basket with draining holes to one of the seat handles for shampoo and soap which is working out well. It was easy to put together, easy to adjust the seat height, and drains the water well.

The size turned out to be just right for the tub. My 88-year-old Mom loves it (she didn't want it). She easily moved it to put it exactly where she wanted it. So she can still be her independent self. It's sturdy yet light weight. Easy assemble.

Worse than Ikea furniture to put together
There is no way a handicapped/disabled person could put this together. I had a shower bench before this and it was a breeze to put together. From the very first screw to the last, it was a non stop nightmare, and not because the part were damaged in transit, because of poor design. This chair may be cheaper than others, but you'll pay for it in other very frustrating ways. Would not recommend.

Bought bench for family member who just had knee surgery and couldnt stand in tub/shower. Bench fits inside our standard size tubs. Very sturdy. Easy to assemble and adjust height. Sturdy, good design. Assembly Required
The product was a little difficult to assemble. I needed to tip it upside down and stand on the seat in order to get the thumb bolts threaded into the female ends enough to grab. Starting each one before tightening down is a key element. I do not recall if this was in the instructions, but it is something I have learned in every "assembly required" project I have done. Once this was accomplished, it went well.

The chair is exactly what my wife needed. She has a bad back, so it's difficult for her to stand the whole time to shower, wash her hair, etc. The cross-bracing gives the support that other chairs don't have. She feels secure using it. It was also very easy to put together.

Bought this chair for my wife who had total knee replacement recently. Easy to put together, takes only a few minutes. Though no tools are required, I have a couple recommendations. I put the chair together and "hand tightened" the bolts that came with it. It seemed solid. But when my wife used it a couple times, she felt the chair legs moving on her and she was afraid of falling if the legs gave out from underneath the chair. I felt the legs giving out also. Excellent Safety Shower Chair
I purchased this chair for my elderly father who has Parkinson's disease. He has a home care person who helps him with his shower but getting into and out of the bathtub safely is challenging with the tremors caused by his disease. This chair was very easy to assemble and it is adjustable in height. The rubber feet and correct chair leg positions gives this chair excellent stability and thus an excellent safety factor which gives all of us peace of mind. My Dad's bathtub is small to moderate in size so I was very pleased that this chair fit perfectly anyway. Prior to buying this chair, my Dad

The bolts that hold the chair together will not stay tight. They are made to hand tighten ( with a plastic "wing nut" head on them". I have used pliers and tightened them until they made a scraping sound. Still, by the end of one shower, the legs have moved enough to cause "tipping concerns". As a retired machinist/mechanic, I know to replace the "hand tighten wing bolts" with hex-head "wrench tightening" bolts. I have not tried them out yet. The problem, "from an engineering standpoint", is the holes for the bolts are oversized; for ease of assembly. The small amount of the over sized hole is

I ordered this shower chair for my Mom, who has mobility issues due to arthritis and she had her right hip replaced 4 1/2 years ago. Though the shower in the master bathroom is a 5 foot wide stand up shower with the two built in seats, those built in seats are too slippery. I was able to put this chair together in @ 10-15 minutes. I purchased this for my parents as a Christmas gift, so I have not actually used it. I ordered it to be delivered to the store and it arrived on time. When we opened the box we found all of the nuts and bolts etc. loose in the box. Some of the parts had been attached to the legs of the chair already. It appeared as if someone had already tried to put it together, given up and returned it to the store. Luckily all the pieces were there with the exception of one washer. Instructions were not the greatest and it took my dad two tries to get it assembled correctly. The chair itself is very sturdy.

When I sit straight in the center of the seat, it is firm and carries my weight (270) easily. But if I shift my weight to one side or another, my weight is now only supported by 2 legs, effectively doubling the load on those 2 legs, which just begs it to fail.
